About Goodricke

The fund (named after John Goodricke) is a registered charity, which was established in 1983. Its purpose is to raise money to provide hearing impaired children and young people with the latest technology to support their communication and development.

John Goodricke who was deaf and a native York became a Fellow of the Royal Society for his pioneering work in astronomy in 1785.
